Summary of Position:
The ideal candidate/ person will collaborate with R&D synthetic chemists, customers, and our QC team. Responsibilities include developing, documenting and validating reproducible analytical methods for the intended purposes. The position also includes working closely with our R&D synthetic chemists to improve our understanding of reactions and solve problems encountered to improve products and processes. Performed on-time testing of greater than or equal to 90% of items submitted. This is an onsite position based in Warrington, PA.
Essential Functions:
- Perform testing of raw materials, in-process and finished product samples per approved internal and customer specifications and associated test methods.
- Aid in maintaining quick turnaround time of analysis for R&D Scientists, Specialty Products, and Lab Products Divisions.
- Develop new analytical methods and validate methods to transfer to the QC group as needed (depending on the requirement of the method to be used for product release testing).
- Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of Analytical lab equipment to minimize downtime. Daily maintenance of HPLC, GC, LCMS, GCMS, Karl Fischer, UV-Vis, FTIR, %solids analyzer, pH meter (may include daily verification, repair, preventive maintenance, calibration) for walk-up access.
- Familiar with ISO or GMP documentation (hard copy and electronic) of testing results and assurance of laboratory data integrity; Experience with electronic data entry, preferably using an ERP system a plus
- Experience with ICH Guidelines and USP Guidelines for Analytical Method Validations a plus
- Support audit readiness with understanding of FDA and ISO regulations and requirements
- Support on-time performance in the lab against the Production and Laboratory Products schedules
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment (5S) for all Laboratory areas
- Employ sound and compliant laboratory techniques and logic per industry standards (e.g., FDA, USP/NF, ISO, ANSI) and internal and customer requirements for analytical method developments and validations
- Keep analytical supervisor informed of any laboratory related issues that arise
Qualifications
Education Required:
- Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, plus 3 to 4 years of industrial experience.
- Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry, plus 0 to 1 year of industrial experience
Preferred: Graduate Degree (Master's or PhD)
Computer Skills Required: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Other qualifications:
- Experience working in an ISO or FDA regulated environment preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced lab environment.
- Intermediate knowledge of analytical equipment, analytical methods, and data analysis.
- Required Analytical equipment experience such as: GC, HPLC, LC/MS, GCMS, GPC, KF, FTIR, UV-Vis, Viscometers, Titrations, TGA, DSC.
- Ability to solve problems through chemistry knowledge, literature searching, and discussions with other team members.
- Good communication, planning, and organizational skills.
