GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs general counseling duties, recruitment travel, and application review to identify, attract, counsel, assist, enroll, and retain students who, from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, contribute to the University and make the world ever better. With intercultural competence, assumes a leadership role and program coordination of assigned initiative(s) in collaboration with divisional and/or college leaders and outside constituents that support enrollment growth.
**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
**25%** **Admissions Programming & Presentations (On Campus / Virtual):**
+ Prepares and delivers group information sessions, webinars, and workshops throughout the calendar year to prospective students, families, school-based, independent, and community-based organization counselors to showcase the University of Rochester as a potential post-secondary education destination, promote affinity toward the University and drive application and enrollment efforts.
+ Participates in large admissions event programming (Research Rochester, Admitted Student Events, etc.) throughout the year in a variety of capacities, such as event planning, panel, and session facilitating/moderating, liaising with departments across campus, welcoming visitors to campus, and supporting visitors throughout their time on campus.
**25%** **Recruitment Travel:**
+ Plans, researches, conducts, and evaluates 8-10 weeks of recruit travel annually (off campus and virtual) to an assigned geographic territory that includes attending college fairs, visits to public/private high schools, community colleges, and community-based organizations to meet with prospective students, families, school-based, independent, and community-based organization counselors to promote the University of Rochester as a post-secondary destination.
+ Plans and presents preliminary travel budget to Territory Team Lead in advance of annual recruitment travel to ensure that Office of Admissions recruitment goals align with the University’s enrollment targets and contribute to overall Office of Admissions fiscal health.
+ Builds on prior experience to further enhance key sustained relationships with secondary school, community-based, and independent counselors by visiting high schools, attending college fairs, and participating in counselor receptions.
+ Prepares annual report for senior leaders within Office of Admissions detailing recruitment activities and outcomes at the conclusion of the travel season with recommendations for future opportunities to allow senior leadership within the Office of Admissions to determine future recruitment strategies.
**20%** **Application Review:**
+ Uses prior admissions reader experience to review and evaluate undergraduate applications from assigned geographic regions/schools (domestic and international) as a first reader for Arts, Sciences and Engineering to determine admissibility based on various secondary / post-secondary school curricula and credit review, non-academic / extra-curricular engagement, written communication samples and non-cognitive and values-based characters, and behavioral demonstration.
+ Serves as a key member of an admissions committee member for an assigned geographic territory to make final admissions decision recommendations where there is a disagreement on the admission decision between first and second reader.
+ Provides insight and expertise on secondary school populations, curriculums, grading scales and yield outcomes to enhance all aspects of the holistic application review process.
**20%** **Admissions Programming Management:**
+ Collaborates with Project Planning Team, and the greater division of Admissions, Financial Aid and Enrollment (AFE) to plan, implement and evaluate a variety of recruitment events and/or initiatives, including coordinating appropriate communication campaigns, CRM process updates, and establishing staffing needs.
+ Monitors operational budget associated with specific program. Consults with AFE financial analyst throughout program cycle to adhere to division-wide budgetary parameters.
+ Solicits and analyzes feedback (verbal, surveys, etc.) from program participants, faculty, and staff; facilitates and conducts debriefing of programmatic activities, to ensure that we are delivering effective, customer service focused events that support enrollment goals.
+ Serves as point of contact and liaison between the Office of Admissions and key offices/departments across the University related to specific admissions programming elements.
+ Liaises with external organizations and entities to enhance admissions programming.
+ Serves as primary recruitment specialist for key admissions programmatic elements for the Office of Admissions.
+ Participates fully in all aspects of a larger designated admissions team (Programming & Events, International Initiatives, Recruitment & Outreach Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Marketing & Communications) initiatives to provide enhanced constituent admissions/recruitment experiences designed to meet Admissions Team and Office of Admissions recruitment goals.
**5%** **General Admissions Responsibilities:**
+ Conducts admissions interviews and completes formal interview write up, which is included in the student’s record and potential application for admissions.
+ Answers telephone and email inquiries from a variety of constituents across all phases of the admission cycle. Provides timely, accurate and supportive information to help prospective students, families, school-based, independent, and community-based organization counselors.
**5%** **Other Duties as Assigned:**
+ Continues growth and development in the admissions domain through attendance at conferences, workshops, (etc.) as a participant, panelist, presenter, and or moderator; remains current in the field, implements best practices, and incorporates knowledge into practice.
**JOB SCOPE:**
Routine level of problem-solving ability is expected. Work is achieved with limited direction. Employee sets individual goals, priorities, and tasks. Employee will have a direct impact on team’s and department’s results. Employee will interact with their direct management and their peers, and their interactions will level at negotiate. There will be interactions with vendors and/or external organizations. The employee will not have supervisory responsibilities. The employee will have financial responsibility for their individual travel budget for 8-10 weeks of annual travel ($10K-$15K) in the assigned travel territory and for associated programmatic elements ($10K-$50K) of the role.
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
**Minimum education:**
+ Bachelor’s degree required.
**Experience:**
+ A minimum of 1 years’ experience in admissions or a related field such as higher education, college admissions, school counseling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. 2-3 years’ experience in admissions or a related field (education, college counseling, and student services) preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**
+ Microsoft Suite of Products or the equivalent and data analysis. Weekend and evening assignments are frequent and required.
**Certification:**
+ Valid driver’s license recognized by the State of NY and ability to travel by air, rail, and water.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $22.02 - $30.82
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
