We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Position Overview
As a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounts payable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices, and providing support to the broader accounting team. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume transactions efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume invoices and payments accurately and timely.
- Review and verify vendor invoices for proper documentation and approval.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in all accounts payable activities.
- Reconcile accounts payable ledger to ensure that all payments are accounted for and properly posted.
- Prepare and process payment runs, including checks and electronic payments.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding outstanding payments or discrepancies.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain accurate records and files related to accounts payable transactions.
- Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve payment-related issues.
- Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives within the accounts payable function.
- Mentor junior accounts payable staff and assist in training.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar accounting role.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, etc.).
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
