Sparks Group has partnered with a renowned government transportation contractor to seek a highly skilled and results-oriented Senior Accounts Receivable Accountant. This role involves a comprehensive range of responsibilities, including reviewing, reconciling, and processing Accounts Receivable transactions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. You will play a crucial role in optimizing cash flow and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Drive Revenue Collection: Actively support the Accounts Receivable department in billing and collection activities, ensuring timely and efficient revenue recognition.
- Resolve Discrepancies: Conduct thorough reviews, research, and resolution of Accounts Receivable credits, unapplied receipts, and other discrepancies.
- Maintain Account Accuracy: Perform corrective journal entries for collection activities and NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) transactions.
- Assess Credit Risk: Collaborate in the reconciliation of Bad Debt accounts and analyze the aging AR report to determine eligibility for reserves and/or direct write-offs.
- Perform General Accounting Functions: Execute general accounting activities related to Accounts Receivable, including journal entry preparation, ledger reconciliations, and customer account reconciliations.
- Enhance Customer Data: Update customer accounts with accurate and up-to-date information, including email addresses, contact details, and other relevant data. This requires proactive research and communication with Project Managers and other departments.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Collections within a professional accounting environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with processing billing using accounting modules/systems within large organizations.
- Prior experience with PeopleSoft is highly preferred, with a strong preference for PeopleSoft Fusion.
- Proven ability to document accounting policies and procedures effectively. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and customer-oriented manner.
