Sr. Accountant - SoundThinking, Inc.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, this role is pivotal in supporting key accounting functions, maintaining SOX compliance, and contributing to the company’s financial reporting and audit processes.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Fixed Assets: Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger, ensuring proper capitalization and depreciation schedules.
• Inventory: Reconcile inventory accounts, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
• Bank Reconciliations: Perform and review monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Indirect Taxes: Prepare sales and use tax returns and other indirect tax filings.
• Prepaids and Intangible Assets: Oversee the accounting and reconciliation of prepaid expenses and intangible assets.
• Accruals: Prepare and analyze monthly accrual entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• International Accounting (Consolidations): Support international accounting functions, including consolidation of financial statements for multiple entities.
• Reconciliations: Perform and review cash and credit card account reconciliations.
• Month-End Close: Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• SOX Compliance: Provide support for SOX compliance activities, including documentation and testing of internal controls.
• Audit Support: Assist with external and internal audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to audit inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Proficiency in NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis).
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA certification or progress toward CPA designation.
• Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment.
• Prior experience in a technology or SaaS company.

Hybrid Workplace:

SoundThinking follows a hybrid schedule for employees who live equal to or less than 50 miles from one of our office locations, which include Fremont, CA, Tucson, AZ, Washington, D.C., or Iselin, NJ. Employees are expected to work onsite 3 days per week – the specific days are dependent on the office location.
