SQL Developer with DBT Experience
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer with expertise in DBT (Data Build Tool) and Snowflake to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in SQL development, data modeling, and data transformation using DBT. This role will involve collaborating closely with Power BI developers, participating in all stages of the reporting software development cycle, and creating complex SQL statements to support data visualizations.
Responsibilities
- Establish and document technical requirements for reporting software, including tables, views, report designs, unit test plans, and test cases.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation on database models, tables, guidelines, methods, and standards.
- Design and maintain complex SQL queries and create tables and views used by Power BI developers for visualizations.
- Facilitate SQL design sessions and code walk-throughs, ensuring adherence to development standards and best practices using DBT.
- Conduct unit testing and assist in user testing to ensure quality, functionality, and alignment with requirements.
- Work closely with stakeholders throughout all phases of the reporting software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, analysis, design, testing, implementation, and production support.
- Provide guidance and training to other team members on development processes, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure code quality and consistency by following established standards and implementing industry best practices.
- Provide recommendations for improvements to development standards and application architecture, incorporating emerging technologies where applicable.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of SQL development experience
- Minimum of 2 year of experience as a DBT developer with a strong focus on Snowflake.
- Proficiency in creating and maintaining SQL statements to generate tables and views for Power BI.
- Strong knowledge of Snowflake, DBT, Git, Visual Studio Code, and pull request workflows.
- Familiarity with database modeling and developing data transformations with SQL and DBT.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
