Description:
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has a continuing requirement for Homeland Enterprise IT Secure Services and Support (HEITS) for the continued operations, maintenance and evolution of the Homeland Secure Data Network (HSDN) and the Classified Local Area Network (C-LAN). Supporting the HEITS management team, the selected individual will be responsible for providing monitoring of customer network data, applications, and operational architecture through a 24/7 Operating Center environment
Installation and configuration of database management systems (DBMS) SQL Server for optimal performance.
Creating and implementing backup strategies ensuring data can be restored in case of loss or corruption to inlcude testing of recovery procedures.
Monitor database performance and make necessary adjustments to improve efficiency, optimizing queries, indexing, and managing resources.
Manage user access and permissions, ensuring that sensitive data is protected from unauthorized access and implement security measures to safeguard against breaches.
Overseeing data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, ensuring data integrity and availability for users.
Assess current database usage and predict future needs, ensuring that the infrastructure can handle growth without performance degradation.
Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems quickly, minimizing downtime and data loss.
Maintaining thorough documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies essential for compliance and operational continuity.
Work with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support application development and ensure that database solutions meet business needs.
