As the Sports Court Superintendent, you will play a critical role in the successful delivery of high-quality sports court projects. You will oversee field operations, ensuring timely and efficient completion of projects while maintaining exceptional standards of quality and safety. Collaborating with sales, fleet management, the repair shop, vendors, and clients, you will drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager of the company.
Responsibilities:Field Operations Management:
- Supervise and lead field team foremen (5–6 direct reports) and all crewmembers in the construction, resurfacing, and maintenance of sports courts, such as tennis, basketball, pickleball, and multi-use courts.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Monitor project budgets, materials, and quality to meet or exceed client specifications and industry standards.
- Ensure proper site preparation, including grading, base installation, surfacing, line striping, and equipment installation.
- Troubleshoot on-site challenges, such as material shortages or unexpected conditions, to minimize delays.
- Implement and continuously improve best practices and standard operating procedures specific to sports court projects.
Collaboration with Sales:
- Partner with the sales team to evaluate project feasibility, timelines, and material requirements for various sports court types.
- Provide technical expertise and recommendations during the project planning phase to ensure accurate client expectations.
Vendor & Subcontractor Relations:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers for specialized materials like asphalt, acrylic coatings, synthetic turf, and fencing.
- Coordinate with subcontractors for specialized tasks, such as electrical work for lighting systems or fencing installation.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce company safety protocols and compliance with OSHA and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular safety training specific to sports court construction, including equipment operation and chemical handling for court surfacing.
- Ensure proper documentation, including material tracking, daily reports, timesheets, and vehicle logs, is accurate and up to date.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Assist in developing and managing budgets for sports court projects.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or project timelines.
- Track expenses and material usage to ensure alignment with budget goals.

- 5–8 years of direct experience in sports court construction, maintenance, or resurfacing, with 4+ years in a management or leadership role.
- Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, with a focus on sports court-specific elements such as base preparation, asphalt work, acrylic surfacing, court markings, and equipment installation.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, OSHA compliance, and industry best practices related to sports court projects.
- Experience with fleet management, equipment maintenance, and coordinating with repair shops for specialized construction equipment.
