About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Splicer Technician to be an important part of our team. The Splicer Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related telecommunication infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on splicing and terminating fiber optic cables to ensure efficient data transmission and network reliability. To be successful in this role you will have an understanding of fiber optic network operations and the tools to test and certify those networks as well as familiarity with network hardware. You will operate in a fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous environment and excel in hitting the Company’s objectives.

Responsibilities

• Understand Cityside Fiber’s core purpose and values and be passionate about what we do.
• Work in and contribute to an atmosphere of trust and integrity with fellow employees to ensure the overall success of Cityside Fiber.
• Perform initial splicing, testing, and certification of the fiber optic network.
• Utilize specialized equipment and tools to splice fibers and ensure low-loss connections.
• Assist with installation and configuration of network equipment such as switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Perform network and fiber maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting in the field.
• Work with customers to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems.
• Perform OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) testing to verify splice quality.
• Document and track network repairs, and upgrades.
• Provide on-site technical support for customers.
• Conduct site surveys and network assessments.

Qualifications

• High energy individual who is willing to be an integral part of a high growth service provider who puts people first, dares to be different and has fun disrupting an industry.
• 2+ years of experience in telecommunications, network installation, fiber optic splicing or related field.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic splicing techniques and equipment.
• Familiarity with optical fibers, connectors, and splice closures.
• Proficiency in fiber mapping and schematic reading.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Certification in fiber optics (e.g., CFOT) is preferred.
• Proficiency in using OTDRs, fusion splicers, and other fiber optic testing tools.
• Technical certifications or training in fiber optics is a plus.
• Understanding of telecommunication infrastructure and networking concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and compliance.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in the field.
• Ability to work outdoors and in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
• Valid state driver’s license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.

Location

Our Headquarters and field offices are located in Irvine, CA. Travel required to local project/customer sites.

Compensation

Starting at $26 per hour (actual starting rate may be higher based on candidate’s qualifications, skills and years of experience).

+$200 Work Boot Stipend (Received Annually)

+$40 Cell Phone Stipend (Received Monthly)
