In this role you will:
- Determines normal and abnormal components by conducting chemical analyses of blood, serum, urine and tissue samples. Thus providing data for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease states. Reports patient reports and alerts medical staff of any critical results. Performs moderate and high complexity testing.
- Ensures operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating, running quality control, performing required instrument studies, completing preventative maintenance requirements’, following manufactures instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for service, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Prepares reagents and necessary solutions for all laboratory tests. Set up, clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Performing Lot to Lot’s and establishing new Quality Control ranges when needed.
- Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
- Provides medical technology information and directions clearly and concisely. Knowledge of laboratory methods and techniques.
- Writes and updates laboratory procedures under supervision as required.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Prepares reports of technological findings by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information. Maintains patient confidence and protects the practice by keeping information confidential.
- Participates in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge and enhance professional excellence
- Other duties as assigned
We require:
Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, chemistry or biology. Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as required in the State of New York
- 2 years of applicable experience.
- Basic Computer skills necessary, knowledge of Microsoft excel and word.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching.
- Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
