• JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

  • One (1) year Clinical Fellowship Program responsible for providing safe and effective speech-language pathology and dysphagia services by implementing appropriate evaluation, treatment, and education designed to meet the identified communication and swallowing needs of the patient. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, families/caregivers, and team members. Promotes teamwork. The treatment populations for this program will be focused on adult inpatient care and pediatric outpatient care with supervision from 2 CCC-SLPs in the SHS system.

• DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
  • The Rehabilitation teams at Samaritan evaluate and treat patients with injuries or conditions that have caused either a decline in self-care, physical mobility or functional independence. The speech therapy teams at Samaritan evaluate and treat those experiencing difficulty with speech sounds, language, voice, swallowing, and cognition (memory, attention, and problem solving). We provide care to adult and pediatric patients with a wide variety of diagnoses in both the acute and outpatient settings. Therapists follow their patients from initial evaluation to discharge, enjoy collaboration with other healthcare team members and therapist-driven treatment times.
• EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
  • One (1) of the following required:
    • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders required plus current unencumbered Oregon Conditional Speech-Language Pathology license upon hire.
    • Candidates who have completed all Master’s degree requirements, but their university is not scheduled to confer the degree before employment begins, must have a current unencumbered Oregon Temporary Speech-Language Pathology License upon hire.
  • Active participation in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required.
  • Must be able to travel to multiple points of care.
  • Healthcare Provider BLS required.

  • Therapy and Counseling - Possess the skills and knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and cognitive conditions. Ability to provide counseling and guidance.
  • Business Writing - Strong business writing skills, including the ability to professionally communicate clinical content in written documentation that is easily understood by the end user.
  • Communication - Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Ability to perform group presentations and listen to and understand complex information and ideas.
