Job description/Responsibilities: Per-Diem AM Shift APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $53.46 - $74.00 POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision is responsible for providing speech, language, and dysphagia services to patients include; evaluations, planning individual patient care programs, treatments, and home programs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Performs patient evaluations and administers treatment for speech-language and swallowing disorders. Designs and revises plans of care and goals. Provides written and/or verbal reports to physicians. Completes documentation according to unit standards and regulatory requirements. Participates in in-service education programs. Provides instruction, direction, and supervision to new employees. Keeps abreast of current trends and developments in speech and swallowing disorders Participates in related activities such as patient care committees, case conferences, personnel orientations, community education projects, and in-service education. Demonstrates flexibility to meet unit and hospital needs. Demonstrates interest in personal and professional growth. Other Duties Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Director, Rehabilitation/Occupational Services.
Required Qualification: QUALIFICATIONS License/Certification Current California license as a Speech Language Pathologist, required Current BCLS from the American Heart Association, required *Proof of all required License(s) and/or Certification(s) due at time of hire. Education Masters Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders, required. *Proof of all required educational levels due at time of hire Experience One year of work experience preferred. Membership in the ASHA preferred. Skills Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of communicative disorders including; dysphagia, and other disciplines Ability to evaluate, plan and implement therapy including dysphagia rehabilitation program for individual patients Ability to explain, demonstrate and teach speech and swallowing rehabilitative measure Ability to supervise support personnel Ability to work effectively with others in an inter-disciplinary team relationship Ability to be self-directing and to seek direction and consultation as needed Ability to express oneself clearly verbally and in writing Experience with ventilator dependent patients and Modified Barium Swallow studies desirable. Demonstrates competence within the scope of practice including age and condition appropriate considerations Demonstrates personal and professional integrity and interest in growth and learning Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills Physical Requirements Sit, stand and walk throughout the day, push/pull up to 50 pounds Vaccine requirement To protect the health of our patients and our health care workers, and to preserve the safety of the St. Rose Hospital healthcare environment, we require all health system employees, trainees, volunteers, and others who regularly work within the health system to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster.
