RUSH Physical Therapy is seeking a Full Time speech language pathologist for our location on Harrison St.
Job Duties:
• Evaluate patient's speech, language, voice and swallowing abilities in a variety of diagnoses in order to formulate and conduct treatment plan designed to improve communicative efficiency of patients with communication problems.
• Create individualizes plan of care and treatment goals for each patient.
• Communicate with patients, family, physicians and other members of the team to optimize collaborative patient care.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust/re-establish goals and revise treatment as appropriate.
• Perform and interpret outpatient video fluoroscopic swallow studies and communicate results to physicians and other medical staff. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
• Current Illinois license as Speech-language Pathologist
• Current CPR certification
• Experience in independent completion and documentation of videofluoroscopic swallow studies/modified barium swallow studies preferred
• Experience working with voice disorders, dysphagia, aphasia, and cognitive-communication disorders preferred.
• 3-5 years of post-graduate experience preferred.

Responsibilities:- Understand appropriate state practice acts and adhere to the laws which govern how physical therapists may practice and whom physical therapists may supervise.
- Complete and maintain all corporate & clinical services required training and maintain compliance with state/local/federal regulations.
- Evaluate, treat, and direct treatment for patients for whom physical therapy is medically necessary and document this need clearly.
- Maintain open and respectful communication with co-workers, physicians, patients, family members, and third-party payors at all times.
- Attend and/or participate in facility meetings as directed by the center manager.
- Meet American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) minimum standards for initiation Clinical Fellowship Year including but not limited to 36 credit hours in prescribed study.
- State licensure/registration where appropriate.ASHA certification required.
- 300 hours in prescribed clinical practicum experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift patients using biomedical techniques frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work day/shift.
- Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.
- Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
- Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community.
- Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling and preparing patients, equipment, and supplies for treatment.
- Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.
