Job Summary
This position has commercial responsibility for CITGO's hydrogen, nitrogen, and gas processing business. As Industrial Gases Contract Manager, you will be the subject matter expert on industrial gas, lead optimization efforts, and be the strategic and negotiation lead on new commercial agreements and greenfield opportunities. Works closely with CITGO's Energy Transition team to identify and develop prospects for decarbonization and green energy projects.
Responsibilities include:
Lead negotiator on key agreements. Utilizes expert negotiation skills to close complex hydrogen, nitrogen, and gas processing agreements.
Performs sophisticated economic analysis on contractual agreements and greenfield projects.
Cultivates and maintains strong counterparty relationships.
Provides clear and concise updates to senior leadership on strategy and execution.
Originates, develops, and drives new opportunities to successful completion.
Supports efforts to develop green energy and decarbonization projects.
Maintains detailed and well-organized contractual documentation.
Aligns with engineering, and strategic planning to support long term strategic vision and execute new agreements and projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience or a Master's degree and 3 years of experience. If no degree, 9 years of experience in lieu of degree.
- High School Diploma required, bachelor's or master's Degree Preferred.
- 5+ years of industry/commercial experience.
- Excellent record - in previous and current roles - of being strongly driven towards future success.
- Demonstrated positive influence and teamwork behaviors.
- Knowledge of hydrogen markets
- Excellent negotiation and analytical skills are required
- Ability to lead a team.
- Ability to develop new business opportunities.
- Demonstrated viewpoint on market trends and strong communication skills.
Job Duties
- Lead negotiations on key commercial agreements for hydrogen, nitrogen and gas processing
- Develop strategy and alternatives
- Model varying contractual scenarios
- Conduct negotiations and close deals
- Short term optimizaton of commercial agreements
- Work closely with operations and supply chain to optimize supply activity on a daily basis
- Enter into spot agreements for short term supply as needed
- Align with counterparties on turnaround planning and outages
- Manage key relationships: develop, grow, and nurture industry relationships with customers, co-producers, and internal constituencies. Originate new opportunities.
- Perform modeling and conduct market intelligence in order to understand industry trends and, by extension, identify threats and opportunities.
- Long-term analysis in support of MTP/financing activities, as well as to assess investment opportunities, growth strategies, and strategic market positioning via term contracts
- Intermediate-term analysis in support of budgeting efforts and turnaround planning
- Short-term market analysis in support of value creation via refinery optimization
- Report to CITGO constituents and leadership regarding both realized results and forthcoming efforts and activities which may be of commercial, operational and/or financial consequence.
