Job Description:
L3Harris is currently seeking a software engineer with a background and experience in embedded real-time software development. The qualified candidate will have exciting, challenging, and rewarding opportunities to support existing and develop next generation military communications applications. This important work contributes to the safety and effectiveness of US and allied nations warfighters. An engineer in this position is responsible for leading projects, developing and managing schedules, generating bids/proposals, and participating in the entire software development lifecycle. The software engineers working in this field often work on a variety of cutting edge projects over their careers, as we design embedded systems for the ground, air, shipboard, and space-based communication systems.
Essential Functions:
- Develop software for embedded devices and systems from requirements to production
- Design, code, test and debug embedded software
- Review design documentation and source code
- Support integration/validation of new product designs
- Provide production support
- Collaborate with a cross-functional engineering team
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 4+ years of experience in embedded software engineering
- Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
- Experience in object-oriented software architecture and design
- Experience in embedded systems design, including use of an RTOS
- Working knowledge of signal processing, control systems, networking
- Experience with drivers/hardware interfaces including PCIe, 1553, RS232, SPI, I2C, FPGAs, and other unique hardware
- Knowledge of protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, EtherCAT, CAN, RTPS/DDS
