iSphere, an IT company in Houston, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our client as a Security Specialist. In this full-time role, you will provide direct support to business and IT staff on security-related issues and work closely with management to develop and implement security measures across various IT areas. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring security compliance, preparing status reports, responding to breaches, and assisting with the development of security policies and procedures. This is a unique opportunity to work on significant projects and serve as a consultant to management, while also playing a key role in shaping the future of our company's security strategies.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Propose, implement, and document cybersecurity system enhancements to improve the district's security posture.
2. Execute security controls to prevent cybersecurity incidents and protect company information and applications.
3. Administer security policies and maintain security systems for systems, routers, and switches.
4. Perform threat hunting and vulnerability scans, research security protocols, and educate IT and business teams on security policies.
5. Represent THE CLIENT's security needs by providing expertise and assistance in all IT projects.
6. Provide reports to management on the negative impact of security breaches and evaluate products and procedures to enhance productivity.
7. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, with at least 12 years of relevant work experience. Master's Degree preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and applied experience in networking, databases, systems, and web operations with a focus on security.
- Experience leading and working with staff to develop skills and technical certifications.
REQUIRED SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Expertise in security issues, techniques, and implications across platforms.
- Maintains primary certifications and has obtained additional ones in related fields.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, government regulations, threat intelligence, and incident response.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
LEADERSHIP/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work Leadership position with project management or team leadership responsibilities.
- Provides work guidance, project management, technical advice, training, and mentoring to other employees.
WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT:
- Non-standardized and varied work involving complex problem-solving and negotiation.
- Requires creative solutions and the ability to devise new approaches to complex problems.
IMPACT OF DECISIONS:
- Decisions have a significant impact on multiple divisions and the organization as a whole.
- Errors can result in excessive costs and project delays.
COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS:
- Interacts with customers and top management, negotiating and influencing outcomes.
- Regular participation in various forms of communication and collaboration is required.
CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS:
- Acts as a trusted advisor, resolving sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department.
- Monitors customer service standards.
