About the Job
The EHS Specialist is responsible for promoting and assisting with the site’s EHS program for Mobis- Savannah plant. They will assist in training the site’s Team Members on applicable EHS-related programs and updates. They will help ensure the site with compliance of current EHS Standards and regulations, participate in site audits and incident investigations resulting in their participation in corrective action reviews until closure.
Responsibilities:(To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Promote and assist with implementation of site Health and Wellness Programs for MAL-SV Team Members.
- Assess workplace environments, equipment, and practices to identify hazards and deficiencies.
- Assist in development and evaluating site EHS programs, procedures, and operations for compliance with applicable governmental standards, codes, and regulations.
- Assist, participate, and potential lead in potential site EHS committees as identified and established.
- Assist with assessing and auditing the new equipment installations and safeguards.
- Assist in conducting hazard and operational control process assessments (JSA, JHA, Ergonomic, etc.)
- Participant in incident investigations to determine immediate causation progressing to final root cause reporting.
- Proactively suggest and promote corrective action awareness to prevent and reduce future reoccurrences.
- Gather and analyze incident and key point indicator (KPI) data to identify trends and establish benchmarks.
- Assist and manage/create with periodic update reports and slides (weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.)
- Assist with Safety Management Systems (SMS) audits, Environmental Management Systems (EMS) audits, and monthly EHS inspections and follow ups.
- Conduct or assist with new hire EHS orientations and procedural acknowledgements.
- Assist with the development and management of site-specific training programs:
- Powered Industrial Vehicles operations (forklifts, manlifts, tuggers, etc.)
- Overhead Crane Operations
- Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout)
- Confined Spaces
- Emergency Response and Hazardous Communications.
- Assist with the site implementation of International Organization for Standards (ISO):
- ISO 14011:2015- Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 45001:2018- Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
- Assist with site safety awareness campaigns and Team Member engagement events and activities as needed.

Qualifications:Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least three plus (+3) years of related EHS manufacturing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety from a credible university or college with at least one (1) year EHS manufacturing experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of current OSHA and EPA standards and regulations.
- Ability to inquire and comprehend local regulatory standards (Fire, Electrical, etc.)
- Comprehension of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 management systems.
- Advance proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Comprehension of SAP network or global networking systems
- Very good written and verbal communicational skills
Preferred Education & Experience:
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- None but must be able to obtain if needed as potential duties expand.
Working Conditions:
- 70% manufacturing work floor interaction - 30% office sedimentary duties
- Overtime as needed if occurrence arises and is deemed necessary by management.
- Primary work shift: approximately 7:00 to 4:00 pm (possible shift change if needed)
