Job Purpose:
The Low Voltage Superintendent, reporting to the Special Systems (SS) Manager, ensures the smooth execution of assigned projects while maintaining compliance with safety regulations, project specifications, and industry standards. This role focuses on upholding TIA/BICSI standards and local building codes. The Superintendent coordinates with site Foremen and Lead Technicians, fostering effective communication with management, Project Managers (PMs), and team members to deliver high-quality results.
Essential Job Functions:
- Resources
- Collaborate with PMs to forecast resource needs, including project durations and personnel requirements.
- Collaborate with other superintendent(s) to assign technicians to jobs as required by PMs and Managed Service requests.
- Work with the PMO Manager and SS Manager to acquire necessary personnel.
- Escalate resource shortages to the SS Manager.
- Collaborate with other superintendent(s) to Maintain and update the resource scheduling system to ensure optimal team allocation.
- Assign appropriate foreman, technician, and apprentice ratios for job-site crews.
- Safety Oversight
- Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety rules and procedures.
- Coordinate biweekly toolbox safety meetings and track attendance signatures.
- Perform weekly safety inspections for assigned job sites and maintain safety logs and checklists.
- Ensure safety equipment and tools are in proper working condition.
- Tools
- Ensure tools are certified, calibrated, and maintained before expiration.
- Confirm technicians are trained in proper tool usage.
- Monitor the condition of tools and request replacements or new purchases as needed.
- Quality of work
- Ensure installations comply with TIA/BICSI standards and local regulations.
- Conduct regular visits to assigned projects to verify adherence to NICP job standards, including:
- Communications (Daily updates)
- Labeling
- Documentation (test results, as-builts)
- Photos
- TIA and BICSI standard
- Supervisory
- Participate in interviews and make hiring recommendations.
- Provide training and assist in coordination with technician development.
- Monitor employee productivity, set expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
- Recommend personnel actions, including promotions, disciplinary measures, or terminations, to the SS Manager.
- Hold technicians accountable for timeliness, quality, tool readiness, and accurate time reporting.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Adheres to all company policies, procedures, standards and safety rules
- Adapts to new processes, products and technologies, as required.
- Learns and understands our products and technology at a level sufficiently high enough to efficiently identify and route requests for assistance to the proper division department or individual
- Assist with tasks or projects as assigned by manager
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, as needed, to meet deadlines or to fulfill travel obligations
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Familiarity with voice, data, and video infrastructure products, services and applications
- 10 years of experience preferably within the low voltage cabling industry, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience
- BICSI certifications (Current or in progress)
- Must have a valid driver license
- RCDD is not required but is a plus.

Construction Drawings: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, including architectural, electrical, and system-specific plants, to ensure accurate implementation and adherence to project specifications.
Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Mathematical: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer: Intermediate knowledge and ability to proficiently use computer software programs and related computer applications, Outlook, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications and other industry-specific technology tools used within the organization. Willingness to learn additional software applications. Desire to consistently refine and grow skills and technical certifications.

Physical and Environmental Elements:
Physical demands: Physically demanding work – can involve the usual hazards of construction, including but not limited to entering small spaces (attics, crawl spaces, knee walls), being on ladders or scaffolding, using power tools etc.
Ability to stand and walk continuously for over 2/3 of normal shift. Ability to talk and to hear continuously up to 2/3 of normal shift. Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, climb, balance, twist and reach with hands and arms above shoulders frequently for over 2/3 of normal shift. Ability to crawl into confined spaces for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 80 pounds occasionally with assistance. Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 2/3 of the normal work shift.
Vision: Ability to see at close range (20 inches or less), at a distance (clear vision at 20 feet or more), ability to identify and distinguish colors, ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships, and ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
Work Environment: Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, in addition to indoor conditions. Noise levels will range from moderate (such as computers and printers) to loud (such as drills and cutting). Ability to withstand intense heat or cold when working in attics and unconditioned spaces. Ability to be on ladders and safely use tools and equipment.
Travel: Ability to travel locally up to 75% of the time.
On Call: Must be accessible beyond the regular 8-5 hours. With crews working variable shifts the Los Voltage Superintendent must be accessible via phone at least (12) hours a day for emergencies.
- A flexible schedule must be maintained to field resources for emergency situations
- During this 12-hour window minimum response time to messages / voice mails needs to be established.
- Must have a 1-inch heal or OSHA-compliant work boots
- Must possess a valid driver’s license (insurable) and have reliable transportation
- Salary Range: $80,000 to $120,000 a year
- Bonuses - $5,000 to $20,000/per year (based on project completion and profitability)
