Our client is seeking a Special Education Teacher SY 24-25 in the Washington, DC area. This is an excellent opportunity to work with students in a classroom setting.
HOURS
* Mon- Fri Schedule available*
* Immediate Start for the School year 2024-2025*
* Compensation Rate $30 an up*
SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY
* Develop & execute differentiated lesson plans that employ multisensory teaching strategies for students diagnosed with a number of academic and/or behavior disabilities that are designed to enhance the learning experience and increase student achievement.
* Communicate regularly with school administrators, teaching colleagues, related service providers, and community members to voice & honor the unique educational needs of students.
*Collaborate with students & their families to identify their talents, interests, needs, and to convey learning expectations and their progress toward meeting those expectations.
* Monitor and support implementation of goals in inclusive classes, monitor service delivery, and provide accommodations/modifications/adaptations/ support, consistent with the provisions of IEPs and Section 504 Accommodation Plans.
* Create & maintain a classroom culture of high achievement and student ownership of their learning that helps foster students' intellectual, social and emotional development.
* Attend and participate in parent conferences and IEP meetings; provide instruction of students by developing, selecting and modifying instructional plans and material and presenting them using instructional techniques which meet the needs of all students.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Commitment to the success of each and every student;
* Teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting;
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member;
* Experience in writing and monitoring IEPs and communicating with families and service providers to support students; ability to work with diverse populations; excellent knowledge and understanding of the teaching and learning process.
* Master's degree in special education preferred;
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
* Minimum of 1 year of classroom experience and results demonstrating student development.
