Must be hired into a full-time scheduled position. $250 after 30 days of employment and another $250 after 6 months of employment.
At The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, we are currently hiring a full-time Special Education Teacher for our Early Intervention program, for our Roosevelt Children's Center, to start as soon as possible, to be responsible for the plan and implementation of individualized special education programs in the Toddler Development class.
The starting salary for this position is $35,762 without masters or $40,010 with M.S. in Education, with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. - full time, 40 hours. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A SPECIAL ED TEACHER
In this role, you will provide a developmentally appropriate toddler experience to maximize skill development consistent with a High Scope approach, will supervise teacher aides and 1:1/1:2 teacher aides while demonstrating leadership role in a classroom team. You will facilitate team meetings, participate in staff development training and will complete required Early Intervention paperwork. You will also plan and implement individualized special education programs to meet Early Intervention students' goals as outlined on IFSPs and IEPs.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must possess one of the following education/credentials:
- B.S. in Special Education-Provisional Certification Area N-12, working toward Permanent Certification or,
- B.S. in Special Education-Initial Certification Area-Birth-Grade 2, working toward Professional Certification
Experience:
- Teaching experience with early intervention programs preferred
- Experience with young children, 18 months to 3 years old, with disabilities and challenging behaviors preferred
- Some lifting may be required
