Position: Special Education Teacher (Brooklyn, NY)
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join a reputable school system in Brooklyn, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment where you can make a meaningful impact on children's lives every day.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with emotional, learning, and physical disabilities, ensuring they receive the individualized education they need through a comprehensive IEP (Individualized Education Program) process. You will collaborate closely with other educators, administrators, and families to provide a positive and supportive learning experience for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess students with special needs in accordance with IEP guidelines.
- Develop, organize, and manage individualized caseloads using an effective IEP system.
- Design and implement tailored strategies to address each student’s unique needs, fostering their academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Provide additional support to at-risk students within the general education population, in coordination with general education teachers, to ensure an inclusive learning environment.
- Serve as a key member of the school’s educational team, with the expectation of returning for subsequent academic years.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education (or a related field).
- Valid New York State teaching certification in Special Education.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
