Position Overview
New West Charter Schools in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced, highly professional, and confident Special Education Teacher to join their team. This full-time position is ideal for a dedicated educator with experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities. The role includes providing push-in support in general education classrooms, as well as teaching at least one Learning Center class, focusing on students with IEPs. The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing IEPs, managing IEP development, and coordinating scheduling for students who require special education services. This position requires a teacher who can effectively support diverse learners, collaborate with general education teachers, and ensure students receive the personalized educational experience they need to succeed.Responsibilities

- Provide push-in support to general education teachers, assisting students with IEPs in accessing the curriculum.
- Teach and support a Learning Center class for students with IEPs, focusing on their individual academic needs and providing specialized instruction.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, ensuring they are tailored to the students' specific needs and goals.
- Manage and track student progress, providing regular updates and communication with parents and staff.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are being implemented in the classroom.
- Coordinate and manage student scheduling, ensuring appropriate time and resources are allocated for special education services.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that fosters students' academic and social-emotional growth.
- Participate in regular meetings with parents, school administrators, and other staff members to discuss student progress and address concerns.
- Credential: Valid California Mild to Moderate Special Education Credential required.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching students with IEPs and working in a special education setting is required.
- Skills: Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support. Strong organizational skills, with experience in IEP development, tracking, and scheduling.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field.
