Seneca's hiring a Special Education Teacher to provide multi-grade, standards-based instruction and academic interventions to grades 5-12 students at James Baldwin Academy in San Leandro, CA. Our Special Education Teachers ensure students’ needs are met within the guidelines of the Individualized Educational Program (IEP) and the Treatment Plan, and they foster successful environments where students' strengths are celebrated and their needs addressed with a variety of targeted interventions. As a teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a team including School Therapists, Classroom Counselors, and Educational Leaders to transform education into a model that connects diverse students to therapeutic services, community resources, and an outstanding academic curriculum.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to implement academic, behavioral, and therapeutic services for special education students with emotional disturbances
- Use backwards design principles to deliver a differentiated curriculum, rooted in state content standards
- Use student-centered instructional methods as defined by the school's Learning Principles
- Employ authentic and norm-referenced assessment strategies to monitor progress and guide instructional planning and decision making
- Provide individualized academic intervention programs to target at-risk learners
- Engage caregivers in the educational process, providing frequent opportunities to discuss student growth and needs
- Co-lead the classroom team to maintain a structured therapeutic learning environment based on Seneca's philosophy
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree AND
- Candidates must possess a California Education Specialist teaching credential (Substitute, Prelim Ed Specialist, Intern, STSP/PIP or Special Education)
- TB test clearance, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination
- Demonstrated interest in Special Education and Teaching
Schedule
- School based schedule:
- Monday to Friday: 8 AM- 4 PM
- 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 33 paid school break days
Benefits
Starting salary is dependent on the teacher's credentials. Seneca will cover credential tuition costs for teachers interested in working as a special education teacher
Special Education Teacher (teaching on a STSP/PIP credential/ Long term substitute) - $69,000- $83,000
Special Education Teacher (teaching on an Education Specialist Intern credential) - $72,100- $85,000
Special Education Teacher (teaching on Special Education credential) - $76,220- $90,220
Additional enhancement for Masters in Education or a related field - $4,160/annually
