Job Overview

The Special Education Teacher will create individualized education programs (IEPs) to support students with disabilities in achieving academic, social, and life skills goals. They will work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• IEP Development

  Assess student needs, create IEPs, and collaborate with parents and educators to review goals.

  
  

• Adapt Instruction

  Modify curriculum and use effective strategies to support diverse learning needs.

  
  

• Behavioral Support

  Manage classroom behavior positively and create a structured, supportive environment.

  
  

• Collaboration

  Communicate regularly with teachers, counselors, and families.

  
  

• Progress Monitoring

  Track and document student progress and maintain accurate records.

  
  

• Compliance

  Adhere to IDEA, state regulations, and district policies.

  
  

Qualifications

• Education

  Bachelor’s in Special Education or related field; Master’s preferred.

  
  

• Certification

  Illinois PEL with LBS1 endorsement.

  
  

• Skills

  Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills.
