Overview
The Spec Shop - Customer Technical Communicator (CTC) maintains high standards of service excellence by providing technical support to our customers. Working in conjunction with other TCs, the CTC provides a comprehensive learning and development program for our customers and their workforce that enhances knowledge, skills, and productivity. The TC will assist as needed to relay all pertinent information communicating with and between external and internal customers as needed.

Responsibilities
- Contributes to a positive work environment and promotes the vision, mission, and values of BMC.

- Models and reinforces company policies/practices to ensure that work is performed in alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and values and in collaboration with other functions.

- Assists customers in troubleshooting performance and operational problems on Caterpillar and Blanchard supported Allied product.
- Provides additional back-up support to Technical Communicators
- Utilizes Caterpillar and Allied product diagnostic software and Service Information Software effectively for diagnostic purposes.
- Utilizes the Dealer Solution Network regularly to communicate with CAT Product
- Remote flash and remote diagnostics for both internal and external customers
- Utilizes AFA (Applied Failure Analysis) to analyze failed parts and components when needed.
- Utilizes Contamination Control and CAT qualified to perform CC audits at our facilities when needed.
- Utilizes Product Problem Management system to work closely with Caterpillar Engineers to develop better products by keeping them informed of current machine problems.
- Assists customers in troubleshooting performance and operational problems on Caterpillar and Allied products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 5 + years’ experience as a heavy equipment technician.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing issues at once in a fast paced, high urgency job role.
- Detail oriented documentation and recordkeeping abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good time management, planning and organizational skills; must be capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in the use of the Service Information System and Caterpillar Diagnostic software such as Electronic Technician, Service Technician Workbench, Payload Control System, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel is a plus.
Working Conditions
- The physical environment requires the employee to work inside throughout the year.
- Willing to travel to assist in troubleshooting, attend training & conferences, etc.
- Position requires employee to be physically present at the job site location.
- Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting.
- Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
- Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
