Under the direct supervision of the Site Manager or Practice Manager, the Spanish Language Liaison is responsible for assisting Spanish speaking patients with appointments, non-clinical customer service interactions with the lab and pharmacy, and general assistance to the Practice Manager or Site Manager. The Spanish Language Liaison is not a medical interpreter, and this employee is not qualified for nor should they be asked to assist anyone with medical interpretation. The Spanish Language Liaison interacts with patients/visitors in a courteous, appropriate, respectful manner at all times. This position performs the following duties in accordance with the established policy and procedures of New Horizon Family Health Services to assist Spanish-speaking patients.
Education:
- A minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in oral and written Spanish and English language skills
- Two (2) years of experience in a medical office, and working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR)
- Must have a working knowledge of computer programs and professional construction of sentences in Spanish and English
- Has ability to speak and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients and the public.
- Must have the physical capacity to perform required tasks.
- Has pleasant personality, pleasing, professional appearance and disposition.
