Position: Sous Chef
Location: Seafood Restaurant in Montclair NJ
Summary:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to assist our Head Chef in overseeing the culinary operations of our restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing and creating high-quality dishes, Strong focus on Seafood, as well as the ability to lead and motivate a team of kitchen staff.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in planning and directing food preparation in the kitchen
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring that food is prepared and presented according to established recipes and standards
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring that they adhere to proper food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Assist with menu planning and recipe development
- Monitor and control food and labor costs
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to create new dishes and specials
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience
- Proficiency in menu planning and recipe development
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
