Sous Chef
Luxe at Jupiter Rehabilitation Center is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As the Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality meal preparation and delivery for our residents, staff, and guests. This role is instrumental in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen while upholding the highest standards of food quality and service.
Responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Quality Assurance:
- Assist in preparing and cooking meals according to established menus, dietary requirements, and portion control guidelines.
- Ensure all meals are presented attractively and consistently meet quality standards.
- Support the Executive Chef in menu planning and recipe development.
Kitchen Operations Management:
- Supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring smooth operations.
- Maintain proper inventory levels by monitoring food supplies and assisting with ordering and stock rotation.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, including food storage and sanitation practices.
Team Leadership and Training:
- Provide guidance and training to kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Assist in developing work schedules and delegating tasks to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Support staff in troubleshooting challenges and resolving issues promptly.
Resident and Guest Engagement:
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Chef and Registered Dietitian to accommodate residents' dietary needs and preferences.
- Address special dietary requests and feedback from residents and guests.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal food safety regulations, including HACCP and ServSafe standards.
- Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and inventory.
Event Support:
- Assist with planning and executing special events, themed meals, and holiday celebrations.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure seamless delivery of event catering.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef, Line Cook, or similar role in a healthcare, hospitality, or senior living environment.
- Culinary degree or equivalent training preferred.
- Knowledge of therapeutic diets and dietary restrictions is a plus.
- ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety training required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
- Passion for creating a positive dining experience for residents and guests.
