Are you interested in joining a fun-loving, hardworking community of food and beverage enthusiasts? An up-and-coming European-style bakery café in the heart of Falls Church City is seeking an energetic and entrepreneurial Sous Chef. This opportunity is for a young leader who wants to help build and grow an evolving business from the ground up while learning the ropes under the dedicated mentorship of an award-winning, two-time bakery café founder and operator. The right candidate will possess imagination, drive, and integrity. This individual will be responsible for back of house (BOH) kitchen operations and the implementation of the restaurant’s policies and procedures to help achieve the company's goals and revenue objectives.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- At least 2 years of Culinary Management experience.
- A passion for culinary arts and food.
- Integrity and self-awareness, which are manifested in both this individual’s punctuality and reliability.
- A strong knowledge and attention to details on BOH operations including staff supervision, inventory controls, food/labor cost, and product quality.
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- A strong work ethic with a stable and progressive work history.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Exceptional organization and leadership skills.
- A High school diploma or equivalent.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring guest satisfaction through commitment to excellence and a hands-on, lead by example management style.
- Managing all back of house kitchen staff, including ongoing training.
- Assisting in menu development and creating seasonal offerings.
- Overseeing weekly inventories, and food/supplies ordering.
- Managing food and labor costs in relation to business trends.
- Ensuring all food safety procedures are strictly adhered to according to sanitary regulations.
- Maintaining evening, weekend, and occasional holiday availability.
