Scope
The Solutions Design Engineer will be responsible for interfacing with company business units to understand their needs, working with various architecture and development teams to create a solution to the business/product need utilizing company application and services infrastructure, and then working with impacted infrastructure, development, and testing team(s) to ensure successful delivery of the proposed solution. Projects will include working with business needs for company voice products.

Scope
The Solutions Design Engineer will be responsible for interfacing with company business units to understand their needs, working with various architecture and development teams to create a solution to the business/product need utilizing company application and services infrastructure, and then working with impacted infrastructure, development, and testing team(s) to ensure successful delivery of the proposed solution. Projects will include working with business needs for company voice products.
Responsibilities
- Will conduct design and analysis of technical products and systems and performs engineering design evaluations. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
- Collaborate with business units requesting systems changes to clarify and document business requirements and business process flows
- Work with business to identify ROI of proposed changes/enhancements to systems
- Partner with Architecture and Development teams to identify feasible solutions and Services that meet the business need
- Document requirements, user stories, architecture diagrams, and sequence diagrams
- Conduct user interviews, JAD sessions, and other forums to define and capture requirements and design of the solution
- Collaborate with application development and test teams to ensure that use stories and system requirements are understood and actionable
- Utilize requirements management tools to maintain traceability between requirements, design elements, and development work
- Present solutions to business requesters, architects, development and testing teams
- Assess work effort, provide timelines for completion of work and deliver within set expectations
- Creates regular status reports
- Minimum 3 years writing IT requirement with strong Client experience in a complex work environment
- Minimum 5 years working in IT with SDLC
- Proficiency in documenting Use Cases, Requirements, Activity Diagrams and Sequence Diagrams in a technical environment
- Experience conducting JAD/RAD/AGILE /Waterfall scrum sessions
- Understanding of SOA and experience writing requirements in a SOA environment
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Advanced proficiency with use of Microsoft Office applications including, Word, MS Project, Excel and Visio and other tools that facilitate the requirements gathering and design phases of the SDLC
- Ability to work and deliver under the pressure of deadlines and commitments to the customer
- BA/BS or Associate degree in Computer Science or related field
- solid SW Analysis and design, Systems Engineering type folks
Nice to Have
- Experience in cable and/or telecommunications
- Experience writing code as a software developer
- Experience with OSS/BSS
- Prior Telecom and/or cable industry experience would be great but it's not a must have.
- Prior Dev experience also highly desired as they will deal with both SW and Hardware related Solutions.
- BA skills (heavy), dev skills, analytical skills and even architecture skills come into play here.
