Solar Project Manager II - RES

Summary:   The Project Manager II – Solar is a site-based project management role that oversees and drives utility-scale solar projects.  

Requirements:   

• Client Relationship Management Accountabilities:
  1. Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project in line with the client’s expectations. 
  2. Strengthens and continually maintains client relationships. 
• Planning:
  1. Manages the project plan and hosts kick-off, update, and closeout meetings.
  2. Manages project-required construction permits as a prerequisite for project inception.
  3. Manages and maintains the project schedule from preconstruction to project closeout.
• Budget:          
  1. Allocates budget, costs to date, forecasts cost to completion, procurement, and materials management.
• Contract:
  1. Manages Contracts and Change orders.    
  2. Manages purchases of project-related materials and equipment.
  3. Maintains a complete understanding of all contractual obligations for the project and documentation of variances.
  4. Ensures that the overall terms of the main contract are passed on to the subcontracts. 
  5. Ensures the project team and all associated subcontractors understand and adhere to the client contract, related exhibits, and project-specific agreements.
• Leadership:
  1. Supports recruiting and hiring of outstanding talent.
  2. Directs, guides, and coaches discipline managers to ensure site activities are understood and follow established processes through quality checks.
  3. Follows processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensures implementation is consistent. 
  4. Communicates variances to clients and executive management.   
  5. Manages site personnel.
  6. Creates a culture of continuous improvement.
  7. Manages rotation schedule to ensure proper staffing coverage during project construction. 
  8. Utilizes Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and technical procedures.
  9. Performs audit functions to ensure compliance. 
  10. Provides a positive and engaging work environment by:
  11. Aligning individual and team objectives to department and company objectives. 
  12. Managing and supporting employee development and growth. 
  13. Offering regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress. 
• QA/QC:
  1. Manages quality control program to ensure processes are consistent and implemented according to the plan.
• Environment:
  1. Provides the required documents, drawings, and other forms to active projects for monitoring and maintaining the EMS.
  2. Supports developing projects to complete all required permitting activities before commencement.
  3. Ensures training is provided and certifications are maintained on field staff to comply with EMS requirements.
• Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
• Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
• Participates in additional projects as assigned by Director and VP.  

Safety: 

• Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action.  Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly. 
• Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
• Leads by example to show that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while working.
• Accountable to continually reinforce safe behaviors and correct “at risk” behaviors.
• Adheres to and ensures all site team members understands standard operating procedures.
• Leads and supports the site team in technical, quality and safety, utilizing system in place.

Leadership:

• Manages one or more direct reports.
• Participates in hiring and selection process to fill positions on the team.
• Communicates regularly with direct reports on goals, accomplishments, and information on policies.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management or equivalent work experience (8 years) is required. 
• 5+ years of project management experience is required
• 4+ years of Solar EPC experience is preferred
• Ability to travel 75-100%
• A valid driver’s license is required
• Travel Requirements: Domestic travel of 75-100%; valid driver's license required.  
• Advanced level of knowledge in:
  1. Estimating work efforts
  2. Change orders

Anticipated base salary range:   $132,000 - $155,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
