Job Description
NREL’s Cell and Module Performance (CMP) group is internationally recognized for providing the highest level of accredited, traceable calibrations for any and all types of photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules. We are constantly pushing the boundaries of PV measurement science. The successful candidate, after initial training, will work with senior CMP scientists, engineers, and other technicians to carry out PV performance measurements for internal and external customers and to upgrade and maintain measurement infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications
This position may be filled at Level III or Level II
For Level III
High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Full knowledge of specialized focused support functions. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the supported activities, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Proficient in research techniques and practices. Solid communication, interpersonal, project management and customer relations skills.
For Level II
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Intermediate to advanced skills in research techniques and practices. Good written, verbal, team, interpersonal and communication skills.

Additional Required Qualifications
+ Highly motivated, self-starting, eager to learn new skills, and comfortable working alone or as part of a project team.
+ Ability to follow detailed written electrical test and measurement procedures with consistent quality, attention to detail and safety.
+ Experience with instrumentation for semiconductor characterization and especially for solar cell testing in a big plus.
+ Detail oriented, good judgment and clear sense of purpose and personal responsibility.
+ Good writing, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
+ Ability, when paired with a team member, to safely lift and handle solar panels of approximate size 1 meter x 2 meters, and weight of 75 lb.

Job Profile: Research Technician II / Annual Salary Range: $49,100 - $78,600
