We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to join our team part-time as a Soil Laboratory Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting our laboratory operations by assisting with various tasks related to soil analysis and testing, with a focus on ensuring the quality and durability of future infrastructure projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in contributing to essential infrastructure development through soil testing and analysis.
Duties:
1. **Sample Preparation:** Prepare soil samples for analysis by sorting, labeling, and processing them according to established procedures. Ensure proper documentation of sample details for accurate testing.
2. **Testing Procedures:** Assist laboratory staff in conducting a range of tests on soil samples, including pH, moisture content analysis, and particle size distribution analysis, and Liquid Limit and Plastic Limit, utilizing appropriate testing equipment and methodologies.
3. **Equipment Operation:** Operate laboratory equipment and instruments used for soil testing, ensuring proper calibration and maintenance to uphold accuracy and reliability of test results.
4. **Data Entry and Record-Keeping:** Record test results and relevant data accurately in laboratory databases or spreadsheets. Maintain organized records of sample information, testing procedures, and results for future reference.
5. **Quality Control:** Participate in quality control measures to ensure the reliability and consistency of test results. Assist in conducting regular checks and inspections and report any deviations or abnormalities to supervisors.
6. **Lab Maintenance:** Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment by cleaning equipment, disposing of waste properly, and adhering to safety protocols at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or coursework in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field preferred. NICET, TXAPA, or ASTM certification a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling soil samples and conducting tests.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, following instructions closely.
- Flexibility to work part-time hours.
- Clean Driving record past three and one-half years
- Ability to lift 50 lbs

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Pay Details: $19.00 to $25.00 per hour
