Responsibilities:We are seeking an experienced and innovative Software Systems Engineer to drive software development efforts, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate is a technical expert with strong leadership, backend development, and automation skills, as well as experience in Agile methodologies, system design, and stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead backend development teams and serve as a technical expert and mentor.
- Foster a positive team culture and enhance communication strategies for smooth collaboration.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across departments to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
- Implement rigorous testing protocols and maintain high-quality code standards.
- Analyze system behavior, identify potential challenges, and provide effective resolutions.
- Develop comprehensive deployment documentation to ensure efficiency and consistency across teams.
- Lead efforts to transition systems across operating platforms while maintaining functionality and performance.
- Design UML diagrams, system models, and wireframes to streamline processes and improve system architecture.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and tools like MagicDraw to deliver scalable and agile designs.
- Simulate system components to evaluate functionality and identify improvements before deployment.
- Develop detailed guides, documentation, and training materials to support current and future team members.
- Ensure documentation remains up-to-date and integrates system checks for consistent deployment.
Required Qualifications:
- BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
- Must possess and maintain a Secret security clearance
- 3+ years of experience with systems engineering on large-scale space, ground, software, or hardware systems, or Major Defense Acquisition Programs
- Experience developing, deploying, and troubleshooting software in a containerized environment.
- Experience writing and utilizing complex test tools, including automation.
- Experience supporting overall engineering integration of Systems Engineering and Integration efforts for the Satellite Control Network, DoD, government agencies, or commercial programs.
- Experience performing systems engineering in space or aerospace concepts and alternative design, architectural analysis, modeling and simulation, enterprise strategic planning, or digital engineering methodologies.
- Knowledge of Linux, C++, Python, Perl, and Java
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM related field
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Ability to proactively find and fill gaps in emerging technologies being developed by multiple 3rd parties as a software integrator.
- Experience defining networking and infrastructure deployments.
- Experience scripting in frameworks like pytest, Cypress or Selenium
- Experience in defining Machine Learning (ML) models to feed Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, especially in image processing.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools such as Magic Draw, Cameo, or SysML
- Knowledge of Agile Methodologies and use of Jira and Confluence
- Ability to demonstrate a dynamic work ethic and be highly motivated to contribute to the DoD mission.
- Possession of excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- TS/SCI clearance.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Security +, Network +, Kubernetes K8/other technologies certifications.
