PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a remote Software Quality Engineer to support ongoing projects for an Aerospace leader. This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
An Aerospace leader, seeks a Senior Software Quality Engineer. The Systems and Software Quality Assurance (SSQA) group is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the company's CMS products and processes. We play a critical role in the development life cycle by identifying and preventing compliance issues against established requirements and Department of Defense (DoD) standards. As a quality SSQA engineer, the candidate will utilize knowledge, background, and experience in supporting quality responsibilities within a software development environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute the quality management program in accordance with the quality assurance projects’ plan and support multiple projects across CMS.
- Work closely with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the software or system meets requirements and quality standards.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance processes, standards, and metrics to ensure consistent quality throughout the development life cycle.
- Generate reports to track defect trends, identify patterns, and measure software quality.
- Perform work product evaluations of all contract deliverables, collect and report quality metrics, conduct quality reviews and audits, assist with resolving quality process issues, and report results of audits and reviews to the responsible manager.
- Ensures inspection reviews and walkthroughs occur in accordance with defined procedures.
- Assist project and site managers with quality planning.
- Ensures the developed documentation complies with software development standards, policies, and procedures.
- Determines level of process and product quality. Develops written reports of findings; escalates unresolved issues to appropriate management levels.
- Provides guidance and oversight to alternative solutions to problems, approaches, and recommendations of solutions.
- Collects, uses, and analyzes defect metric data. Presents analysis to the appropriate levels of management verbally and through the preparation of periodic written reports.
- Participates in special projects, external audits, and process improvements in support of quality assurance initiatives.
- Develops SSQA tasks and audit schedules.
- Participate in system and software design reviews, testing, configuration control, problem reporting and change control review boards.
- Audit, monitor, evaluate, and report on subcontractors’ software development activities.
- 10% travel required.
Requirements:
- Requires Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent, and 5 years of related experience or 3 years with a master’s degree.

- Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices of systems and software engineering.
- 5+ years of software quality assurance, engineering, or management information systems experience.
- Experience working with quality assurance principles and practices and software development methodologies.
- Experience working with software test tools and methodology.
Desired:
- ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer is a plus.
- Experience working with standard software development methodology assessments, such as SEI/CMMI.
- Possess quality engineering certifications such as Six Sigma Lean, ISO 9001, ASQ, etc.
- Experience working with quality metrics and software industry metric data collection and analysis techniques.
- Working knowledge of National Instruments TestStand.
- Working knowledge of Atlassian’s platform (e.g., Jira, Bitbucket, and Crucible)
- Experience working with project management methodology. - Experience with various testing types (e.g, example functional performance regression integration)
- Knowledge of quality assurance standards and best practices. (e.g, Defense and Aerospace industry experience, IEEE 12207)
- Software development experience. (e.g, C++)
- Ability and working knowledge of Apache Subversion
- Ability to develop test assets (e.g., test plans, test designs, test cases, discrepancy reports, etc.)
- Proficiency in test automation tools and scripting languages.
