The Position: The Software Product Manager will shape the future of products and contribute to product development strategy by converting product vision from key stakeholders into detailed requirements for Software Development. In the execution of these strategies Product Managers work with Technology, Sales, Marketing and Executives to ensure corporate goals are met on time and on budget while client and market needs are met.
The Product Manager will also work with Smart Start departments to build and enhance products. A Product Manager possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy, a big-picture vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.
What You Will Do:
Collaborate with internal and external customers to define functional and technical requirements with the ability to search out unarticulated needs and translate this into business information and governance.
Uses business savvy and collaborative techniques to liaison across product lines and divisions to elicit the needs of the stakeholders to define and validate solutions that meet business goals and objectives.
Effectively influence stakeholders, challenging them as appropriate - we want to hear your opinions as you collaborate closely with key stakeholders.
Articulate product vision and translate details into clearly understandable user stories for Software Development.
Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for product offerings.
Perform industry research under direction of senior staff.
Oversee all actives related to the software development life cycle.
Keep stakeholders updated on software progress.
Build partnerships to collaborate and gather business requirements.
Define all deliverables to meet business objectives.
Prepare reports for management team.
Gain buy-in for project goals and decisions.
Identify opportunities for software enhancement.
Manage internal client expectations.
Work with the development team on implementation.
Assist with software documentation.
Provide regular communication with all team members.
What We Expect:
Uphold Scrum Framework, principals and ceremonies.
Manages the backlog and user stories for multiple product lines.
Focus on planning; stay 1-2 releases ahead of team;
frequently groom the backlog.
Plan and lead Demo Day sessions; provide input on development achievements.
Design workflows for new functionality.
Writes users stories and generate acceptance criteria; refine stories with the Scrum teams.
Create Wire frames and prototypes as well as other types of artifacts that lead to high quality software releases.
Manages expectations with internal capabilities and balances constraints.
Review and provide feedback to ensure application changes meet acceptance criteria.
Actively support Software Development team to mitigate impediments to achieve sprint/release goals.
Keep the work on track and prioritize. You will support project plans, provide program risk assessment and ensure mitigation plans are identified and communicated.
Work with the Scrum Master to ensure the team provides accurate estimates, effectively track and report team progress.
Contribute to Business Requirements Documents.
Develop concise and meaningful training presentations and or material for internal and external audiences.
Act as a product champion within the company.
Qualifications:
A Product Manager has exemplary people and communications skills coupled with the savvy and maturity needed to garner the respect of senior management and internal teams. Additionally, the professional is a self-starter who goes above and beyond the expected requirements of the role. He/she is highly adept at building mutually beneficial relationships that result in value, benefit, and revenue growth for Smart Start. Further qualities and attributes that aid in the success of this role are:
Demonstrates understanding of requirements to define, launch, and maintain excellent products.
Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
Expertise in Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Visio, MS Office.
Basic understanding of UI/UX principles.
Basic knowledge of web development platforms, databases, and infrastructure.
Work well under pressure and be able to prioritize to meet deadlines and quickly shift priorities as necessary.
Attention to Detail – Identify dependencies, mitigate risks, and remove impediments which prevent your team from accomplishing objectives; monitor the detail and quality of work.
Ability to multi-task, work independently and demonstrate keen attention to details.
Ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact and communicate ideas including responding to resistance and criticism.
Team player attitude is mandatory.
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT preferred.
5+ years of Project or Product Management experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Certified Project Management Professional (Preferred).
Expert knowledge of technology applications and systems infrastructure.
Knowledge of application impact on operational and business functions.
