Schedule Notes:
Open to 100% remote candidates though ideally seeking candidates local to one of the major Cigna offices (NJ, MN or STL, MO) who would have the ability to come onsite later. Core hours are 9am-5pm EST though willing to consider candidates in other time zones as long as they can adhere to that schedule
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Test Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Test Data Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our data by designing, implementing, and maintaining robust test data management solutions. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, quality assurance analysts, and other stakeholders to identify data requirements, develop test data strategies, and participate in the automation of data processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, software testing methodologies, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding of Test Data Management Concepts: The candidate should have a solid understanding of Test Data Management (TDM) concepts, including data masking, sub setting, synthetic data generation, data profiling, data provisioning, and data compliance.
- Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze complex data requirements, identify test data needs, and devise strategies for data provisioning. Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to address challenges related to data quality, availability, and security.
- Mainframe Experience: Proficiency in working with Mainframe systems, including familiarity with JCL (Job Control Language), VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method), and other mainframe technologies commonly used in data processing.
- Understanding of Mainframe Data Structures: Knowledge of mainframe data structures such as fixed-length records, VSAM files, and Sequential Data Sets (PDS/PDSE) is essential for managing test data in mainframe environments. Experience in generating test data directly on mainframe systems using utilities like File-AID, CA File Master Plus, or IBM File Manager. Understanding of how to create and manipulate test data within mainframe datasets.
- Mainframe Database Skills: Knowledge of mainframe databases such as DB2 for z/OS is beneficial for managing test data stored in these systems. Proficiency in writing SQL queries for mainframe databases may be required for data extraction and manipulation.
- Debugging and Troubleshooting Mainframe Applications: Ability to troubleshoot issues related to test data generation, data masking.
- Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams including developers, testers, and business stakeholders. The candidate should be capable of understanding and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
- Attention to Detail: Test data management requires meticulous attention to detail to ensure that test environments accurately reflect production scenarios while adhering to data privacy and security standards.
- Continuous Learning and Adaptability: Given the evolving nature of technology and data management practices, a willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and best practices is important. The candidate should be adaptable to changes in project requirements and industry trends.
- Experience with Agile Methodologies: Experience working in Agile development environments, where rapid iteration and continuous integration are common, can be advantageous. Familiarity with Agile principles and practices like Scrum or Kanban is often preferred. Having experience using JIRA is a plus.

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $52.00/hour-$69.00/hour
