About the job
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale quantum computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Quantum AI's mission is to build this device and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications. Key to our plans for practical realization of reliable quantum computation is the encoding of quantum information in quantum error correcting (QEC) codes.
As a Software Engineer, you will develop syndrome decoders achieving high accuracy under stringent throughput and latency requirements and performance engineering of the overall real-time decoding system. This entails identification and resolution of performance and scalability bottlenecks and automation of accuracy, throughput, and latency measurements. Your activities will include frequent interactions, such as design discussions and pair programming, with researchers and electronics engineers. Other activities include development of multi-threaded C++ software, writing code interfacing with OS/hardware, writing Python gluecode for integration with qubit control stack, automation of common profiling and performance modeling tasks, advising on Software Engineer practices, improving code quality in legacy components.
Responsibilities
- Develop Quantum Error Correction (QEC) syndrome decoders in collaboration with researchers and other Software Engineers.
- Manage performance engineering of the overall real-time decoding system.
- Develop an automated system for measuring accuracy, throughput, and latency of the syndrome decoding system.
- Develop and produce scientific software supporting research in QEC theory.
- Support for QEC experiments on Google's quantum computers.
