CTG is seeking to fill a Senior Application Designer opening for our client in Wilmington, DE.
Location: Wilmington, DE (Hybrid Remote)
Duration: 18 months
Overview:
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Application Designer to provide designs, specify information systems solutions, and offer highly technical direction in the development of new or existing applications. This individual will play a key role in solving complex problems or enhancements, serving as a principal application designer for major modifications. The Senior Application Designer will evaluate client requirements and processes, providing solutions that are both technically sound and in alignment with business objectives. The role may also involve overseeing less experienced personnel and assisting with day-to-day support activities and special projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead systems analysis, design, and development for both basic and complex projects.
- Play a critical individual contributor role in complex projects while maintaining an excellent understanding of supported applications.
- Oversee and guide less experienced resources, coordinating development tasks for small to large projects.
- Manage the technical components of project plans, working closely with other development, operations, and technology teams.
- Participate in all phases of systems development, from technical analysis to user acceptance testing.
- Prepare and execute detailed test plans and perform debugging.
- Evaluate complex interrelationships among programs, applications, and platforms, offering analytical consulting to implement new uses of technology.
- Prepare clear and thorough technical and functional specifications and documentation.
- Lead or assist in the preparation of assessments, project tasks, timelines, and effort estimations for various scope projects.
- Ensure the continued efficient operation and effectiveness of supported applications.
- Recommend and implement new technology, policies, or processes to improve the organization’s effectiveness.
- Participate in technical evaluations of vendor software.
- Promote development standards and ensure compliance with internal controls and risk management policies.
- Support the business functions, processes, and operations to meet strategic objectives.
- Manage and assist in budget development, including expense and capital budgets.
- Complete additional duties or projects as assigned, including involvement in due diligence, cost/benefit analysis, or business studies.
Scope of Responsibilities:
This position works under the supervision of the Technology Team Lead. The Senior Application Designer is expected to be competent in working independently on high-level systems analysis and technical development tasks. They may also manage the activities of other team members on a project basis, ensuring project milestones are met. The role involves regular interaction with senior management, technology teams, clients, and vendors. The Senior Application Designer may be called upon to represent the team in committees or ad-hoc projects and provide backup to higher management as needed.
Education and Experience Required:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree and 5 years of systems analysis/application development experience. Alternatively, a combined total of 7 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years in systems analysis/application development.
- Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.
- Key Skills:
- ETL/SQL/Data Processing
- Enterprise Web Services (Java/Springboot)
- Talend experience is a plus
- Proficiency with personal computers and project management, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
- Experience working on complex projects with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in presenting to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Experience in coordinating between applications and business units.
- Ability to drive project milestones and delivery dates.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Strong understanding of the Bank’s application framework and systems.
- Expertise in business applications with in-depth knowledge of supported systems.
- Advanced understanding of applications with integration capabilities.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
- Action-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Advanced knowledge of system architecture and a focus on major projects beyond normal business-as-usual (BAU) tasks.
Additional Information:
- The ideal candidate will work in Wilmington, DE 3 days a week (typically Tuesday to Thursday).
- The candidate should have a strong background in web services and extensive data experience. Experience with Talend or Azure is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly assess and resolve issues are highly valued.
