Amazon's Fulfillment Optimization organization is looking for experienced software engineers who want to build Amazon's next generation of flow control systems. Our software is used across entire Amazon fulfillment journey in every geography, and is a critical link to ensuring the products our customers want are available when they need them. This job is a unique opportunity to both create and see the direct impact of your work on billions of dollars' worth of shipments in one of the world's most advanced supply chains. You should be comfortable diving deep into technical architectures and requirements, be able to quickly identify solutions to challenges discovered during development, and ready to work with some of the latest cloud computing technology. Prior experience building stable, scalable, solutions is required. Prior experience with data mining, databases, or massively parallel systems is a plus. Key job responsibilities - Define solution (logic and design) to business problems - Influence team architecture and product within and across tems - Advise team and business partners - Participate in feasibility analysis and design based on product requirements - Plan, communicate, de-risk, and close-out software projects - Design, develop, test, deploy large software projects - Continuously grow your skill to measure and communicate business value of technological solutions - Solve complex software problems. Produce documented APIs, extensible services, well thought-out trade-offs - Apply mechanisms to reduce delivery times, eliminate bottlenecks, and streamline team processes and ceremonies A day in the life As an SDE in FO, you'll work closely with some of the brightest software engineers, research scientists, and product managers to solve highly complex supply chain challenges. You will partner with talented teammates on designing the architecture, building the software, deploying and monitoring your solutions across the globe. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Bellevue, WA, USA Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Preferred Qualifications - · MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience - · 5+ years of relevant industry experience - · Track record of ownership within global distributed services with high load, high availability requirements - · Successful track record of mentoring and growing junior SDE's Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
