As a Software Development Manager for Content Systems, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of large-scale systems that handle billions of requests daily. We are building the next generation of content marketing systems to further scale up our business impact. You will have direct ownership over the design and architecture of new components, focusing on enhancing the platform's extensibility, scalability, availability, and latency. Key job responsibilities * Responsible for the overall systems development life cycle * Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments aligning with business * Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment * Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team * Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach * Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Seattle, WA, USA Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams Preferred Qualifications - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers - Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
