Our group is Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS). We deliver internal security services that support Amazon businesses including Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Twitch, Whole Foods, Kuiper, and many more. We develop Amazon's internal security services for identity management, permissions management, access control, authorization, and authentication. Our services are used company-wide to ensure that Amazon services have a strong security foundation. In this role, you'll be building software for internal security systems at Amazon. We use DevOps, so our teams are responsible for the full software lifecycle. We believe that user experience is a key factor in security outcomes, and we are working to transform security user experiences. A day in the life As a Software Development Manager it starts with building a high performing team. A typical day on our team involves working with users to design new security features, prototyping and demonstrating features to your users, deploying software through our large automated systems, and operationally supporting newly deployed software. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Arlington, VA, USA | Herndon, VA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of engineering team management experience - 5+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Bachelor's Degree in Computer science or related discipline (or) at least 5 years equivalent work experience Preferred Qualifications - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers - Experience managing a team of high calibre Software Engineers developing complex, world class, scalable software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers - Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
