The Amazon Central Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) Maintenance Application Platform (MAP) team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who wants to design and build world-class internal customer-facing interfaces and the back-end services powering one of the world's largest Reliability, Maintenance Engineering (RME) enterprises. The RME Automation team supports the business through the integration and development of higher level software systems, realizing an Industry 4.0 vision for the function. At a basic level, these systems link our low-level automation systems with the cloud and we work at the cutting edge of all aspects of the automation pyramid, from device level to the enterprise level. The more complex systems are leveraging Machine Learning and Big Data to drive proactive, predictive , corrective actions, preventing downtime or defects in the material handling equipment and improving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness of the installations.
It's still Day 1, and we're at the beginning of building out an entire suite of global solutions. Being part of the HAWK team, you and a team of developers will leverage cloud, back-end services to develop and extend a forecasting engine which proactively identifies deviations in material handling equipment performance and enables RME technicians to take proactive actions. You will be involved through all phases of the project life-cycle, including reviewing requirements, designing services that lay foundation for the technology platform, build new interfaces and also integrate with existing architectures, developing and testing code, and delivering seamless implementations for our customers.
In this role you will be responsible for the team's technical architecture and end-to-end quality of the code in our software solutions. You will also be doing hands-on development of web applications and integration of other Amazon and third-party tools into seamless solutions for our customers. As a developer, you will own a portfolio of tools hosted on Unix, Windows and AWS infrastructure. You will enable the department to scale by designing applications and as well as handling day to day support requests. Additionally, you will encourage and enforce best practices across the team to provide the highly consistent and scalable development environment needed to meet the demands of this dynamic and growing organization. - Develop/maintain operational rigor for the frontend of a fast-growing Amazon Search stack.
- Develop the engineers of an existing "two pizza" scrum team.
- Engage with customers and other partners.
- Help with hiring and mentoring.
- Take user-facing features from design to implementation, coding both the UI and backend functionality.
- Build reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
