About this opportunity
The 3D Product Research and Development Software team in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to contribute to the development and quality assurance of novel orthodontic devices. In this role, the SDET will use manual and automation testing to deliver the next generation of 3D applications and products to the market. This role requires 3D geometry experience, enthusiasm, and adaptability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic research environment. Depending on the skill and experience, the level of this position can be altered.
In this role, you will…
- Help develop the next generation of virtual orthodontic software.
- Create test automation for functional, regression, performance, and integration testing.
- Design and implement automated tests for research and development software.
- Execute manual tests for 3D software, visually inspect 3D objects, and find patterns.
- Work with bugs throughout their life cycle.
- Analyze functional and non-functional software requirements to identify automation needs.
- Work collaboratively with the product owner and development team to execute feature-based releases.
- Act as a stakeholder in product definition from conception to initial release to mass scaling, contributing to the definition of product success criteria.
- Iterate with stakeholders, business owners, software developers, biomechanical engineers, and internal end-users to understand different aspects of the features.
- Operate as part of a scrum team focused on research and development: actively participate in sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives and attend daily standups.
- Modify and extend existing automation frameworks.
- Create and support new frameworks as needed.
- Implement/monitor regular test execution (new builds and regression), analyze the reports, follow up, troubleshoot, and investigate the failures daily.
- Work closely with the geographically distributed automation team to monitor new improvements, resolve issues, coordinate processes to deliver releases, and enhance the overall processes.
- Research test tools, test methodologies, and trends, and upgrade existing practices and processes.
In this role, you’ll need …
- BS in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or equivalent degree; a master’s degree is preferred, or equivalent years of experience.
- Analytical thinking, ability to systematize information, and learn complex things quickly.
- 3+ years in Software Quality Assurance and development and/or test automation.
- 3+ Programming experience in Python or other object-oriented programming language
- Experience with 3D software testing.
Desirable:
- Hands-on experience in creating API test frameworks and API-level testing.
- Working experience with Agile methodology
- Experience with Software Development methodologies and best practices.
- Experience in a startup or research team is a plus.
- Experience with the following tools is a plus: PyCharm, Visual Studio, Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, GIT, Jupiter notebook.
- Experience with AWS management services is a plus.
- Experience with testing Linux applications is a plus.
