The Distributed SQL team at AWS is focused on providing Amazon customers with new database services that will transform how they design, operate, and scale core business applications that can adapt to the needs of nascent new business or scale to billions of operations for the largest global companies. In this role you will get hands-on experience developing customer API's, and solving for a variety of issues within the context of a distributed system architecture such as multi-tenancy, heat management, host placement, and encryption. You will gain hands-on experience building Amazon scale services from scratch, solving challenging problems that create real value for thousands of Amazon customers. The ideal candidate has experience building database technology or related distributed systems. The candidate is able to independently break complex problems into manageable, incremental work. The candidate has experience designing and deploying software that reliably operates in production environments, at scale. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Seattle, WA, USA Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
