Viasat is looking for a creative, bright, and innovative Project Manager to work at the forefront of what makes us successful. This is a unique opportunity to work with our talented engineers developing and supporting technology programs in Viasat’s Aviation business.
We are seeking a Project Manager to lead software feature delivery for our satellite connectivity customers in the Aviation market. The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of engineering teams (systems, software, integration, and test), handling schedule and performance risks, meeting commitments and anticipating and circumventing problems. In addition, to developing stakeholder relationships and working effectively with functional areas within the company. This role is also responsible for leading, directing, and motivating cross-discipline teams across multiple organizations and geographic sites. The candidate will be highly organized and be able to effectively manage execution of multiple concurrent projects.
The day-to-day:
The Project Manager works with business, engineering development and product management teams to help facilitate the execution of projects and to improve end to end operational efficiency of engineering domains. The Project Manager helps accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization through establishing effective relationships with business leaders, project teams and stakeholders.
The PM should have a foundational knowledge of theories, practices and procedures related to Program/Project management. The PM should be able to apply knowledge and skills to complete their assigned work autonomously with minimal direction. The ideal candidate has a background in Program/Project management, Scrum/Agile, software development or testing, and an approach centered around critical thinking.
You will be working closely with Aviation account management, Product Management, and software engineering teams. The PM will lead the intake of new software delivery requests, perform work triage, define and document scope, plan delivery, and own the execution of the software delivery. You will also be presenting project status, schedules, and metrics to account management teams, customers, and Program Management leadership. The PM will handle risks, drive resolution of bugs, coordinate software release, and lead scope changes.
What you'll need:- 5+ years of experience in Project Management in software development, as described above
- Proficiency in monitoring, managing, and reporting project level breakthroughs, risks, issues, and decisions.
- Extensive problem-solving skills, and ability to drive resolutions to closure
- Ability to run project communications internally to teams/collaborators/leadership and externally to customers
- Organization skills to lead multiple projects concurrently, for multiple customers
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and intrapersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels in the organization
- Knowledge and experience with project management methodologies and standard processes.
- Experience working within Agile Development Frameworks
- Experience handling project scope and deliverables, including change control methodologies
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with commercial or business aviation industry
- Experience with scaled Agile implementation
