Taconic Mental Health Unit,Taconic Correctional Facility - Office of Mental Health (OMH)
Minimum Education:
- A master's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred.
Licenses and Certifications:
- LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker), LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), or LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) is required.
Work Experience:
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.
Job Duties:
- Provide therapeutic services to patients in a primary therapist role, including individual therapy.
- Complete mental health assessments and documentation in accordance with policy and procedure, including: (Core History, Suicide Assessments/risk assessments, Weekly/Monthly Progress Notes, Treatment Plans, Discharge Plans)
- Facilitate group therapy sessions.
- Ensure compliance with OMH policies and procedures.
- Participate in CNYPC and DOCCS orientation.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, especially regarding paperwork timeliness.
- Excellent clinical writing skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in group facilitation.
Miscellaneous Information:
- Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Exact shift/hours to be discussed during the interview.
- Work Environment: Direct contact with incarcerated individuals is required. The average number of incarcerated individuals seen daily ranges from 2-10.
- Parking: Free parking available on site.
- Public Transportation: Not accessible by bus route.
- Health Requirements: Candidate must submit proof of TB testing and a recent flu shot.
- Security Measures: Two security staff are present in the unit at all times when patients are with clinicians. They are not in the room with the clinician but are in the unit.
- Interviews: Conducted in-person to allow candidates to see the working environment.
- Training: Both OMH and DOCCS orientation will be provided.
