Position Summary
Reporting to the Marketing Manager at Columbia+, the Social Media Specialist will develop and execute a robust social media strategy to enhance our online presence and engage with our audience effectively. The role involves managing all social media platforms, creating compelling content, analyzing performance metrics, and supporting our media production efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong creative and analytical skills with a proven track record in social media management. Additional duties will include production support for the Columbia+ media production team for studio and on-location filming.
As the Social Media Specialist for Columbia+, you will play a key role in shaping our social media presence and driving engagement across various platforms. You will collaborate with a dynamic marketing team to create and implement social media strategies that resonate with our diverse audience, support our educational programs, and enhance the Columbia+ brand. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage our social media strategy across platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Create, manage, and optimize a social content calendar to deliver consistent and timely content.
- Create, edit, and publish engaging content (text, images, videos) tailored to each platform.
- Research and Monitor social media channels for industry trends and competitive insights.
- Analyze social media performance metrics and prepare reports to assess the effectiveness of campaigns.
- Collaborate within the marketing team to align social media content with broader marketing campaigns and goals.
- Respond to comments, messages, and reviews promptly and professionally to engage with our online community.
- Manage social media advertising campaigns, including budgeting, targeting, and performance tracking.
- Provide occasional support to the media production team, including studio and on-location filming, production assistance, and behind-the-scenes (BTS) photography and filming for promotional efforts.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.
- Coordinate with graphic designers, video producers, and other content creators to ensure a cohesive brand voice and visual identity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of related work experience in social media management.
Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful social media strategies.
- Experience in creating, managing, and optimizing a social content calendar.
- Able to produce compelling copy.
- Ensure alignment with brand guidelines throughout social channels and posts.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Hootsuite, Buffer).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinking and ability to generate innovative content ideas.
- Experience with social media advertising and analytics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Canva.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or executive education marketing.
