**Overview**
PNNL's Communications organization is a dynamic team of over 100 communications professionals dedicated to elevating PNNL's reputation, inspiring action, and engaging audiences by transforming the Lab's science into influential communications and compelling stories.
We are seeking an experienced Social Media Manager to craft and advance a unified strategy across various social media platforms.
**Position Overview**
The Social Media Manager, a strategic thinker and proactive team player, will enhance our social media strategy and lead its execution. In this role, you will be involved in establishing a robust social media ecosystem that aligns with our corporate goals and elevates PNNL's reputation. We seek a digital leader who can innovatively blend strategy and creativity to transform our science mission into inspiring social media connections. The ideal candidate will excel at sparking conversations, building communities, and strategically utilizing every character, hashtag, and emoji to support our organization's mission and goals.
The person will work collaboratively with others within the communications team, aligning social media messaging with broader communication efforts, and optimizing social media outcomes. They will foster a culture of social media excellence within the organization, providing training and establishing best-practice guidance.
**Responsibilities**
**Social Media Strategy**
+ Develop and orchestrate a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, vision, and objectives.
+ Guide the integration of influencers and PNNL leaders into the overall social media efforts, coaching teams and supporting activities that intersect with social media throughout our organization.
+ Create and socialize best-practice guidance and approaches for social media that support PNNL's external communication's messaging across all social media channels.
+ Align the social media strategy with the News & Media team and the Institutional Communications team to support overall goals for External Communications.
**Social Media Management**
+ Define, develop, and execute a content plan that articulates the relationship between the corporate social media strategy and individual strategies that incorporate social media as part of their campaigns or activities.
+ Understand audience preferences to ensure the social media strategy resonates with stakeholders, using industry trends, emerging insights, and best-practices to guide recommendations.
+ Develop awareness and build coalitions that are aligned in commitment to the social media strategy throughout the organization, helping various teams reach their goals while integrating activities into a cohesive effort and direction.
+ Manage the reporting, planning, and documentation elements of the social media efforts, incorporating a strong business acumen and strategic communication perspective into the process.
**Social Media Activation**
+ Design and develop key social media campaigns and recommendations that support the organization's overall strategy and institutional goals.
+ Form partnerships with internal stakeholders to provide strategic guidance on supporting the social media strategy effectively.
+ Contribute to thought leadership on social media, stakeholder experience, and emerging trends.
+ Create innovative and engaging social media content for all platforms and identify opportunities to showcase the people, culture, and science supports PNNL's impact.
+ Manage and lead best-practices for social media to incorporate accessibility, DEIA, and intellectual property requirements effectively throughout PNNL's social media efforts.
**Social Media Measurement**
+ Establish clear and measurable objectives for social media, benchmarking against industry standards.
+ Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics to measure the effectiveness of the social media strategy to continuously optimize as needed.
+ Be able to translate social media metrics into business metrics and outcomes, effectively communicating audience outcomes, business goals, and alignment of activity to specific impact metrics.
+ Conduct social media metric reporting regularly to provide visibility and transparency into findings, progress, and areas of improvement.
**Crisis Management**
+ Manage social media crisis or negative feedback in a professional and timely manner.
+ Serve as a senior member of PNNL's Joint Information Center
+ Manage social media content and channels during a crisis communications scenario.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Qualifications:
+ BS/BA and 7+ years of relevant work experience
+ MS/MA and 5+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Strong leadership and management skills, with an ability to lead diverse teams through influence as a key communications team member.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
+ Robust strategy and messaging acumen, including a track-record of being effective in this work at previous organizations.
+ Expertise in conducting data analysis, including the ability to identify, collect and analyze data from various sources to draw relevant insights with social media strategy and external audiences.
+ Strong ability to stay updated on the evolving social media landscape, industry trends and best practices in social media and communications.
+ Understanding of and experience with crisis communications protocols and scenarios.

**HSPD-12 PIV Credential Requirement**
In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, new employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.

Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement in the range is determined based on an individual's relevant job-related skills, qualifications, and experience. Instead, our compensation offers are determined by the specific requirements of the position, prevailing market trends, applicable collective bargaining agreements, pay equity for the position type, and individual qualifications and skills relevant to the performance of the position.
**Minimum Salary**
USD $103,500.00/Yr.
**Maximum Salary**
USD $160,200.00/Yr.
