Job Description
Position Summary:
Assists with the general duties of the Dietary Department, including the setup of trays, checking for accurate food orders, and all department sanitizing duties. (Cleaning and dish washing).
Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English. Candidates must be able to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be dependable in work attendance, demonstrate courtesy and good customer service practices to nursing staff, fellow dietary staff, residents and facility visitors.
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Licenses/Certifications: None Required
Experience Required: Previous experience in quantity food production preferred.
Essential Functions:
• Prepare hot and cold foods and beverages as directed by the Cook or the Dietary Service Supervisor.
• Set up trays with proper dishes, glasses, cups, condiments and eating utensils for meals.
• Check resident trays for proper and accurate food items.
• Transport trays for meal service, may assist with the serving of meals in assigned dining rooms.
• Prepare snacks and nourishment items according to the facility policy, resident food preferences and physician orders
• Clean and sanitize the food preparation areas after use.
• Follow posted cleaning schedules and utilize proper sanitation and cleaning methods.
• Practice kitchen and facility safety, infection control, and emergency procedures according to facility policies.
• Attend in-service education and staff meetings as required
• Practice courteous, considerate and co-operative communication with all facility personnel, residents and family members.
• Assist with the cleaning of dishes and dining utensils.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Cook or Dietary Service Supervisor
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to read and understand Menus, cleaning schedules and practice safe and sanitary handling of food and food preparation equipment.
